Delightfully simple thumbprint cookies filled with your choice of fruit preserves, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup fruit preserves (your choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Press down in the center of each ball to create a small well.
  8. Fill each indentation with fruit preserves.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
