A delicious and healthier twist on the traditional Middle Eastern falafel, made crispy in an air fryer without excess oil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a food processor. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms.
  2. Shape the mixture into small balls or patties.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Lightly coat the falafel with olive oil and arrange in a single layer in the air fryer.
  5. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown.
  6. Serve with tahini sauce or in pita with fresh veggies.

Notes

For an extra crispy texture, lightly spray the falafel with cooking spray before air frying. If the mixture is too wet, add a little flour to help it hold its shape.
