A rich, creamy, and versatile vegan cheese sauce, perfect for pasta, nachos, or as a dip for veggies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw cashews (soaked in water for at least 4 hours)
  • 1/2 cup water (plus more for soaking)
  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • A pinch turmeric (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soak the cashews in water for at least 4 hours.
  2. Drain and rinse the soaked cashews under cool running water.
  3. Blend the cashews with 1/2 cup of fresh water, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and turmeric until smooth.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Notes
