Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
