  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut it into strips.
  6. Twist each strip and carefully fry them until golden brown.
  7. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together for coating.
  8. Coat the warm donuts in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Notes

For a healthier version, you can bake the donuts instead of frying them. Just shape them and place them in a donut pan, brushing lightly with butter before baking.
