A vibrant and flavorful appetizer featuring toasted bread topped with a fresh mixture of tomatoes, garlic, and basil.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of crusty bread
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the crusty bread into thick pieces and arrange them on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden.
  4. Combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  5. Remove the toasted bread from the oven and top each slice with the tomato mixture.
  6. Drizzle a little more olive oil over the top and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use the ripest and freshest tomatoes you can find. Store any leftover topping in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days.
