  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the egg, followed by the vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture gradually.
  6. Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and roll them in sugar.
  7. Prepare ungreased baking sheets, spacing cookies 1.5 inches apart.
  8. Flatten each ball using the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
  9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden.
  10. Cool the cookies on wire racks.

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
