A simple and nostalgic recipe for delicious homemade strawberry jam to preserve summer’s sweetness in a jar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 packet pectin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and hull the strawberries, tossing them into a bowl and mashing until chunky.
  2. Combine the mashed strawberries, lemon juice, and sugar in a pot, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Add pectin, if using, following package instructions for proper distribution.
  4. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, stirring often for about 10 minutes.
  5. Prepare sterilized jars by carefully pouring in the hot jam, leaving a little space at the top.
  6. Seal the jars tightly and set aside to cool at room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

For the best consistency, ensure adequate boiling time and use ripe strawberries for optimal flavor. If the jam is too runny, you can reheat it and add more pectin.
