A beloved Southern dessert featuring a smooth, velvety filling made from mashed sweet potatoes, warm spices, and a flaky pie crust.

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s perfectly hot and ready to bake our pie.
  2. Combine the mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, milk, heavy cream, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  4. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or chilled with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to a month.
