  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme and rosemary) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the ribs by generously seasoning with salt and pepper on all sides.
  2. Brown the ribs in a skillet over medium-high heat until all sides are nicely browned.
  3. Load the ribs into the slow cooker.
  4. Sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic in the same skillet until softened and fragrant.
  5. Incorporate the tomato paste and cook for another minute.
  6. Create the sauce by pouring in the beef broth and red wine, bringing to a gentle simmer.
  7. Combine this mixture over the ribs in the slow cooker.
  8. Add the Worcestershire sauce and fresh herbs on top.
  9. Slow cook on low for 8 hours until the meat is tender.
  10. Serve the beef short ribs hot, garnished with additional herbs if desired.

Notes

Browning adds essential flavor. If you prefer no wine, substitute with more beef broth.
