A smooth and creamy orange curd that adds a zesty twist to breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon (about 10 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any lumps.
  4. Stir in the cubed butter until fully melted and incorporated.
  5. Let the orange curd cool to room temperature, then refrigerate in an airtight container for up to one week.

Notes

Use fresh oranges for the best flavor. Stir constantly while cooking to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
