Delightful raspberry cream cheese rolls perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup raspberry jam
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for icing, optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for icing, optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl: flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Heat the milk and butter in a saucepan until warm but not boiling.
  3. Mix the warm milk mixture and egg with the dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle once risen.
  7. Spread the cream cheese evenly over the dough.
  8. Layer with raspberry jam on top of the cream cheese.
  9. Roll the dough tightly into a log.
  10. Slice the log into rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
  11. Second rise for another 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  13. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  14. Mix powdered sugar with vanilla and a little milk for optional icing.

Notes

These rolls are great served warm with coffee or tea. They can be frozen for up to a month.
