A whimsical dessert featuring a light meringue, topped with whipped cream and festive peppermint candy.

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
  • Chocolate curls (for garnish)
  • Fresh berries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Whip the egg whites until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add granulated sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract, vinegar, and cornstarch until combined.
  5. Spoon the meringue mixture into a round shape on a parchment-lined baking sheet, creating a wreath.
  6. Bake for 1.5 hours or until the meringue is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
  7. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  8. Spread the whipped cream on top of the cooled meringue.
  9. Add garnishes with crushed peppermint candy, chocolate curls, and fresh berries.

Notes

For best results, store the meringue and whipped cream separately and assemble just before serving.
