  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • Powdered sugar for dusting or glaze for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the orange juice.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cardamom, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with a simple glaze before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the fridge for up to a week. Can be sliced and frozen for up to 3 months.
