  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, and ground cardamom.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar or adding a simple glaze.
  10. Slice into the cake and serve.
