A delightful mincemeat pie that combines sweet and savory elements, evoking warm family memories and traditions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mincemeat filling
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 to 5 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the cold water and lemon juice gradually.
  5. Roll out half the dough on a floured surface and fit it into a pie pan.
  6. Fill the prepared crust with mincemeat filling.
  7. Roll out the second half of the dough and place it over the filling. Seal and cut slits in the top crust.
  8. Brush the pie with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool before serving.

Notes

Store leftover pie at room temperature for up to two days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
