Deliciously chewy oatmeal raisin cookies that evoke fond memories and offer a warm, comforting treat.

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  6. Fold in the rolled oats and raisins until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For chewier cookies, bake until edges are set but centers look slightly underbaked. Can substitute raisins with chocolate chips or other dried fruits.
