Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Heat the Sugar and Egg Whites: In a heat-proof bowl, combine the egg whites and granulated sugar. Place over simmering water and whisk until the mixture reaches 160°F (70°C). Remove from heat and beat with a mixer until stiff peaks form and the mixture cools.
  2. Cream the Butter: In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy, transforming it into a fluffy base for your frosting.
  3. Mix with Nutella: Gradually add the Nutella to the creamy butter and mix until well combined.
  4. Introduce the Meringue: Slowly add the prepared meringue to the butter and Nutella mixture, along with the vanilla extract and pinch of salt. Mix until fluffy and light.
  5. Sweeten with Sugar: Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar into the mixture, mixing until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
  6. Frost Away!: Use your Nutella Buttercream Frosting to coat cakes, cupcakes, or macarons as desired.
