A comforting casserole layered with spaghetti, rich meat sauce, and creamy cheeses, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 16 oz cottage cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions and drain.
  3. Sauté ground beef (or sausage), onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and bring to a simmer.
  5. Mix cottage cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, eggs, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  6. Layer half of the spaghetti in a greased baking dish. Spread the cheese mixture over the spaghetti, then layer the meat sauce on top. Finish with remaining spaghetti and top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

Feel free to mix things up by using chicken or turkey for a lighter option. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 3 months.
