A heartwarming lasagna recipe that layers rich ricotta, stretchy mozzarella, and hearty meat sauce, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Ground beef or Italian sausage
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Crushed tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • Olive oil
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until softened.
  4. Brown the ground beef or sausage until cooked through, then drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Mix ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  7. Layer in a 9×13 inch baking dish starting with meat sauce, followed by noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella.
  8. Bake covered for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider using low-fat ricotta and sautéed vegetables. Let the lasagna rest after baking for neat slices.
