Brown the ground beef or Italian sausage until browned, drain excess fat, then stir in tomato sauce and Italian seasoning; allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
Prepare a mixture of ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
Layer the ingredients in a baking dish: spread meat sauce, place noodles, spread ricotta mixture, and sprinkle mozzarella; repeat, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella on top.
Add Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake covered with foil for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Use no-boil lasagna noodles to save time. Let the lasagna rest for easier slicing.
