A flavorful and comforting Korean beef bowl that’s quick to prepare, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Don’t forget to drain the excess fat to keep things light and juicy!
  2. Add Aromatics: Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Combine the Ingredients: Pour this mixture over the beef in the skillet. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Serve the beef over cooked rice, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra flavor, experiment with vegetables like grated carrots or bell peppers. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
