A deliciously indulgent frosting that combines creamy butter and coffee-flavored Kahlua, perfect for filling layers and frosting cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 tablespoon espresso powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
  3. Add Kahlua, heavy cream or milk, espresso powder (if using), and vanilla extract.
  4. Beat on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Use the Kahlua Buttercream to fill cake layers or frost cupcakes as desired.

Notes

For a stronger coffee flavor, add more espresso powder. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
