A rich and creamy Kahlua buttercream filling that adds a delightful coffee twist to cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (optional, for chocolate variation)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy.
  2. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, mixing until just combined.
  3. Pour in the Kahlua, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, mixing until the buttercream is smooth.
  4. If using cocoa powder, sift it in and mix until well incorporated.
  5. Use immediately as a filling or frosting, or store in the refrigerator.

Notes

Store leftover buttercream in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
