Delightful homemade jelly donuts filled with your choice of sweet jelly or jam, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup jelly or jam (for filling)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, including flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Whisk wet ingredients in another bowl, combining eggs, warm milk, and melted butter.
  3. Bring the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for about an hour, covered, until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into rounds.
  7. Second rise for the doughnut rounds for another 30 minutes.
  8. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Fry the doughnuts until golden brown on both sides.
  10. Drain and cool the donuts on paper towels.
  11. Fill the slightly cooled donuts with jelly using a pastry bag.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to a month.
