A creamy and refreshing tzatziki sauce perfect for dipping or as a topping for various dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (preferably full fat)
  • 1 medium cucumber (peeled and grated)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill (or mint, if preferred)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Grate the peeled cucumber using a box grater. Once grated, place it in a clean kitchen towel and wring out the excess moisture.
  2. Combine the drained grated cucumber with Greek yogurt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil to the cucumber and yogurt mixture.
  4. Chop the fresh dill (or mint) finely and incorporate it into the mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Allow the tzatziki to chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a thicker consistency, strain the yogurt for an hour before mixing. Fresh herbs are key for authentic flavor.
