Fluffy, golden-brown garlic knots brushed with a decadent mix of garlic and herbs, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for brushing)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center, add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a greased bowl, covered, for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Shape the knots: Punch down the dough and divide it into 10-12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope, then tie into a knot.
  6. Arrange the knots: Place the knots on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Prepare the garlic butter: In a small saucepan, melt butter and add minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Brush the knots with this mixture.
  8. Bake the knots: Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Final touch: Brush with more garlic butter before serving.

Notes

Make sure your water is warm, not hot when activating yeast. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour while kneading. Letting the knots rise a second time will yield an even fluffier texture.
