A nostalgic and delightful meringue confection that melts in your mouth, perfect for sharing during the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring gently until it reaches the soft ball stage (238°F).
  2. Whip the egg whites in a separate bowl until they form stiff peaks.
  3. Slowly pour the syrup into the whipped egg whites while continuously mixing.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and continue beating until the mixture thickens and holds its shape.
  5. Fold in the chopped nuts if desired.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper and let them cool completely before serving.

Notes

Use a candy thermometer for best results. Ensure mixing tools are clean for optimal egg white whipping.
