Delicious homemade churros with a crispy exterior and a warm, soft center, coated in cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon cinnamon for coating

Instructions

  1. Boil the mixture: In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  2. Create the dough: Once boiling, add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the dough comes together and forms a ball.
  3. Cool and combine: Allow the dough to cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Then, mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Heat the oil: In a deep fryer or large pot, heat oil over medium heat.
  5. Pipe the dough: Using a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe the dough into the hot oil in your desired shapes.
  6. Fry to perfection: Fry the churros until they’re golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Drain the excess oil: Use tongs to remove the churros and let them drain on paper towels.
  8. Roll in cinnamon sugar: While they’re still warm, roll each churro in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.

Notes

For added flavor, consider infusing your cinnamon sugar with vanilla or citrus zest.
