Create your very own homemade caramel, a buttery treat perfect for drizzling over desserts or enjoying by the spoonful.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts and turns a golden color.
  2. Carefully add the butter and stir until melted, ensuring a smooth and luscious mixture.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring (be cautious! The mixture will bubble vigorously).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt, letting the rich flavors meld beautifully.
  5. Let it cool before using, allowing the caramel to thicken to perfection.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. If it hardens, gently reheat with a splash of cream.
