Ingredients
Scale
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 chicken breasts
Instructions
Prepare the Marinade: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, pineapple juice, and sesame oil. Whisk until smooth.
Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and ground black pepper to the bowl and whisk again.
Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a dish or resealable bag and pour the marinade over, ensuring even coating. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
Grill the Chicken: Remove chicken from the marinade, reserving marinade for later. Grill chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side or until cooked through.
Simmer the Marinade: Pour the reserved marinade into a saucepan, bring to a simmer for about 5 minutes.
Rest and Glaze the Chicken: Let cooked chicken rest for a few minutes and then brush with thickened marinade before serving.
Serve the Dish: Serve hot, optionally garnished with green onions or sesame seeds.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate chicken for at least 2 hours and up to 4 hours.
