A savory and sweet bowl meal featuring ground beef infused with hot honey, served over rice with fresh toppings.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup hot honey
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef, browning for 7-8 minutes.
  4. Stir in the ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Add the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine.
  6. Pour in the hot honey and mix well, cooking for about 3 minutes.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. To assemble, place a serving of cooked rice at the bottom of each bowl.
  9. Ladle the hot honey ground beef mixture over the rice, followed by cherry tomatoes, avocado slices, and cilantro.
  10. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with lentils or ground turkey. Add spinach or kale for extra greens.
