Juicy grilled chicken thighs marinated in traditional Greek spices, served in warm pita with fresh toppings and creamy tzatziki.

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Pita bread
  • Optional toppings: diced cucumber, chopped tomatoes, sliced red onion, feta cheese, tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: Combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add chicken thighs and coat thoroughly. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  3. Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until cooked through and tender.
  4. Rest the grilled chicken for 5 minutes, then slice into strips.
  5. Assemble the gyros using warm pita and toppings like cucumber, tomatoes, onions, and feta.
  6. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce before serving.
