  • 2 chicken breasts (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 pita bread
  • 1 tomato (sliced)
  • 1 cucumber (sliced)
  • 1/2 red onion (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese (crumbled)

Instructions

  1. Mix olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, Greek yogurt, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add the sliced chicken breasts to the marinade and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Grill or pan-fry the marinated chicken until cooked through.
  4. Warm the pita bread.
  5. Assemble the gyros by placing grilled chicken on the pita, then adding sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and crumbled feta cheese.
  6. Serve with extra yogurt sauce if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate for a few hours or overnight. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked to 165°F.
