Classic Glazed Donuts

Light and fluffy homemade donuts topped with a sweet glaze, perfect for breakfast or a treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glazing)

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. Whisk the wet ingredients together in another bowl: milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Cut out donuts from the dough using a donut cutter and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
  6. Prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar and 2-3 tablespoons milk until smooth.
  7. Dip warm donuts into the glaze and place on a wire rack to set.

Notes

Serve warm with coffee or fresh fruit. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
