A comforting dish layered with crispy corn chips, savory beef, zesty beans, and melted cheese, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can chili beans
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 4 cups corn chips (Fritos)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • Sour cream (for serving)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat to keep your dish light and flavorful.
  2. Mix in the Flavor: Stir in the taco seasoning and chili beans, and let the mixture cook for another 5 minutes.
  3. Create the Corn Chip Base: In a large dish, layer half of the corn chips on the bottom.
  4. Pour and Layer: Pour the beef mixture over the corn chips, then top it off with diced tomatoes and half of the shredded cheese.
  5. Add More Crunch and Cheese: Add the remaining corn chips on top, followed by the rest of the cheese and the jalapeños if using.
  6. Bake to Perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve hot, topped with sour cream and chopped green onions.

Notes

Can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the fridge. Freeze without toppings for later use.
