Fried ice cream combines a warm, crispy exterior with a cold, creamy interior, making it a fun and exciting dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup cornflakes, crushed
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional)
  • Chocolate or caramel sauce (optional for serving)

Instructions

  1. Scoop ice cream into balls and place them on a baking sheet. Freeze for at least 120 minutes until solid.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, eggs, milk, and vanilla to make a batter.
  3. Roll each ice cream ball in crushed cornflakes, making sure to coat them well.
  4. Dip each coated ice cream ball in the batter, then coat with cornflakes again.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the ice cream balls in batches for about 10-15 seconds or until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve immediately with powdered sugar and sauce if desired.

Notes

Make sure your ice cream balls are very solid before frying to prevent them from melting too quickly. Experiment with different ice cream flavors and cereals for coating.
