  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for greasing the dish
  • Maple syrup and powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cube the bread into cubes and place them in the baking dish.
  3. Prepare the egg mixture by whisking together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Soak the bread cubes by pouring the egg mixture over them and pressing down gently.
  5. Chill the casserole covered in plastic wrap for at least an hour, or overnight for deeper flavor.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  7. Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup and powdered sugar.
