A comforting dish combining caramelized onions, melted Swiss cheese, and juicy chicken for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring often, until caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Sear the chicken breasts in a separate oven-safe skillet on both sides until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Top the chicken with the caramelized onions, pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Add the shredded Swiss cheese on top.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  8. Garnish with fresh thyme if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Allow onions to caramelize slowly for the best flavor. You can substitute chicken broth or vegetable broth for the beef broth if desired.
