Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs in a pot of boiling water for 6-9 minutes depending on desired yolk texture.
  2. Transfer the eggs to an ice bath to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
  3. Combine soy sauce, water, sesame oil, and sugar in a bowl, whisking until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Peel the cooled eggs under cold running water for easier shell removal.
  5. Marinate the peeled eggs in the soy sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes or longer for deeper flavor.
  6. Remove the eggs from the marinade, slice in half, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding garlic, ginger, or rice vinegar. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
