Delightful bars made with a creamy coconut topping and a buttery base, perfect for family gatherings or a sweet treat.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the flour, unsweetened shredded coconut, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  5. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the crust, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the additional sweetened shredded coconut and chopped nuts on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the coconut topping is golden brown.
  8. Cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

For a nutty flavor, toast the chopped nuts before adding. To enhance flavor, consider drizzling melted chocolate on top.
