Delightful Cut-Out Sugar Cookies, perfect for festive occasions or a cozy afternoon snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • Icing for decorating (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and extracts to the butter-sugar mixture.
  5. Combine the flour mixture with the wet ingredients to form a dough.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface.
  7. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
  8. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and place cookies on it.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Cool before decorating with icing.

Notes

For thicker cookies, roll the dough to a thicker size before cutting. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
