  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water, then add the yeast and let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Create the dough: Add the yeast mixture to the flour and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let it rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Shape the loaf: Punch down the risen dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it on a baking sheet.
  8. Second rise: Let the loaf rise again for 30 minutes.
