A comforting crockpot recipe featuring tender chicken simmered in a rich gravy, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 23 pounds Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts or Thighs
  • 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup (condensed)
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth (or Vegetable Broth)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 12 tablespoons Non-Alcoholic Cooking White Wine Substitute (or extra chicken broth)
  • 1 packet Dry Gravy Mix (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • Black Pepper (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Thyme or Poultry Seasoning
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour or Cornstarch (for homemade gravy base, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your crockpot.
  2. Lay the chicken in a single layer at the bottom of your prepared crockpot.
  3. Whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and white wine substitute.
  4. Season the gravy mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme.
  5. Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken in the crockpot.
  6. Set the lid and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
  7. Shred the chicken once cooked and return to the gravy.
  8. Thicken the gravy if needed by adding cornstarch mixed with hot liquid.
  9. Return the shredded chicken to the gravy and warm through.
  10. Taste the gravy and adjust seasonings.
  11. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or with crusty bread.

Notes

Serve with sautéed green beans or a fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator or frozen for later.
