Delightfully crispy mozzarella sticks with a gooey center, perfect for parties or movie nights.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 12 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese, cut into pieces 3-inch x ¾ inch
  • Homemade marinara, for dipping
  • 1 quart vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix your dry ingredients: In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Beat the eggs: In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until well combined.
  3. Combine the crunch: In a third bowl, mix Panko breadcrumbs with Italian seasoning.
  4. Coat the mozzarella sticks: Dip each piece in flour, then egg, and finally Panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Freeze to firm up: Place coated sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Heat the oil: In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Fry them up: Fry the sticks in batches for about 30 seconds per side until golden brown.
  8. Drain and serve: Place on paper towels to drain excess oil and serve hot with marinara sauce.

Notes

Make sure to freeze the sticks for at least 30 minutes to prevent bursting during frying.
