Homemade crispy French fries that are golden brown and perfect for snacking or serving as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into the desired fry shape.
  2. Rinse the cut fries in cold water to remove excess starch, then dry them thoroughly with a kitchen towel.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 325°F (163°C).
  4. Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5 minutes until they are soft but not browned. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the potatoes again in batches for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain on paper towels again and sprinkle with salt to taste.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For added flavor, consider seasoning fries with garlic powder, paprika, or Parmesan cheese after frying.
