Delightful cream-filled donuts with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior, reminiscent of classic cream puffs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Whisk together dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and melted butter until well blended. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until smooth.
  2. Prepare oil for frying: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the donut batter: Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  4. Whip the cream: In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  5. Mix in chocolate chips: Fold in the chocolate chips into the whipped cream for that extra decadence.
  6. Fill the donuts: Let the donuts cool slightly, then cut a slit on the side and fill with chocolate chip cream using a piping bag. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Store filled donuts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds if necessary.
