A comforting and warm bread pudding recipe that utilizes stale bread to create a delicious dessert.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cubed bread (stale or slightly dried out)
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ cup raisins (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts, optional)
  • Butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the mixture and let it soak for about 10 minutes.
  4. Fold in the raisins and nuts if using.
  5. Pour the mixture into the baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or ice cream. Leftover bread pudding can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
