Delightful homemade churros, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, dusted with cinnamon sugar and perfect for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Cinnamon sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  2. Stir in the all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Remove from heat and let the dough cool slightly.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan for frying.
  6. Use a piping bag fitted with a star tip to pipe the dough into hot oil.
  7. Fry until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Drain churros on paper towels and roll them in cinnamon sugar before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute eggs with applesauce or flaxseed meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
