Delicate French macarons in festive red and green, perfect for celebrating the holiday season.

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Green gel food coloring
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 cups powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for filling)
  • Optional: festive sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. Whip the egg whites until foamy, gradually adding granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the almond mixture into the whipped egg whites gently.
  5. Color the batter by dividing it in half and adding red and green gel food coloring.
  6. Pipe small circles of batter onto the lined baking sheets, spaced 1.5 inches apart.
  7. Rest the piped macarons at room temperature for 30-60 minutes.
